Located in the Region of La Araucanía, Chile, the Universidad de La Frontera (UFRO) is a state, public institution of higher learning, considered among the best universities in the country based on its remarkable indicators of quality and excellence. The university is a learning community dedicated to the creation of human capital in undergraduate and graduate studies, in the areas of continuing education development, scientific and technological research, the promotion and creation of the arts and cultural development, and the education of citizens able to confront the challenges of their time.  Department of Civil Engineering

 The Faculty of Engineering and Sciences at UFRO seeks to train quality professionals and scientists, who contribute in an integral, creative and innovative way to the solution of scientific-technological problems of society. Therefore, the Faculty counts with ten departments (Physical Science; Chemical Sciences and Natural Resources; Chemical Engineering; Industrial and Systems Engineering; Mathematical Engineering; Computer Science; Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Mathematics and Statistics), 18 undergraduate and graduate programs, seven research centers and one scientific and technological nucleus. Furthermore, based on its research, links with the environment, innovation, technology transfer and internationalization, the Faculty assumes the commitment to make an effective contribution to the development of the Region of Araucanía and the country. As part of the Faculty of Engineering and Sciences, the Department of Civil Engineering strives to efficiently fulfilling the functions of teaching, research, and dissemination, the latter principally in the areas of Water Resources and Hydraulics, Construction Materials and Sustainable Construction, Construction Project Management, and Structures and Seismology. With its strong regional commitment and active relationship with the public and private sectors, the Department aims to consolidate itself as one of the training and technological development centers in the area of engineering and construction of greater importance in the south of Chile.
