The Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí (Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi, UASLP) is a public university with a strong commitment to offering high quality programs to its students, who come from the state of San Luis Potosí and abroad. It offers 95 undergraduate programs with 28,236 students and 86 postgraduate programs hosting 2,000 students. Sixty-two of the postgraduate programs are recognized by CONACYT (the Mexican Science and Technology Council) as high quality programs (PNPC). The university is organized into 42 academic entities: 14 faculties, two schools, two departments, three coordination units two academic units, seven institutes, and 12 research centers.
The Agenda Ambiental (Environmental Agenda) is a transversal and horizontal university initiative whose mission is to promote and support the inclusion of an environmental and sustainability perspective in every university endeavor, with the hope of producing profound effects both internal and external to the institution. Agenda Ambiental has three strategic programs inside the UASLP: AUMA (Environmental Academy), PMPCA (Graduate Multidisciplinary Programs in Environmental Sciences), and SGA (Environmental Management System).
The Graduate Multidisciplinary Programs in Environmental Sciences (PMPCA) were the first graduate programs offered jointly by several academic entities of the UASLP. They offer a Master’s and Ph.D. program, and a double grade (M.Sc.) offered jointly with TH Köln (University of Applied Sciences) (ENREM program).
The PMPCA is supported by 52 professors grouped into five research areas:
- Environmental Assessment
- Environmental Management
- Natural Renewable Resources
- Prevention and Control
- Integral Environmental Health
