University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast, Ghana

Established in 1962, the University of Cape Coast (UCC), https://ucc.edu.gh, is one of the rare seafront universities in the world. UCC is also known as the University of Competitive Choice because of its high-quality graduates and the integrity of the degrees it awards. There are currently about 68,000 undergraduates and 5400 graduate students enrolled in various academic programmes and courses at UCC. The University is organized into five (5) Colleges and fourteen (14) Faculties/Schools headed by Provosts and Deans, respectively. One of the few virgin forests in Ghana, rich in biological diversity, is located on the university campus. UCC campus is also just about 20 kilometers from the Kakum National Park, which is home to endangered mammals such as forest elephants, bongo antelopes, and primates like the Diana monkey. The park is rich in butterflies and birds, including African grey parrots and hornbills. The Canopy Walkway, suspended 30 meters above the ground, provides treetop views of the forest.
