Living in Cologne
“The world feels at home in Cologne, where people meet for a Kölsch, a chat or simply a laugh. Life in Cologne is uncomplicated and vivacious.” This is written on the homepage of cologne http://www.koeln.de/cologne_tourist_information Do you think it’s true?

Dear Marjolly, regarding your questions I'll try to give a short overview: Weather: Temperatures in October can be around 20°C on a good day, when its not a good day say around 10-15°C. You should just have a normal, somehow rainproof jacket. November and December temperatures drop, in Dec. sometimes under Zero, but years with longer snow inside the city are rare. If you wanna go out and enjoy some snow etc its not far. For that you should have some (thin) gloves and a cap. But don't worry, you can get all of this in Cologne also if necessary Prizes: A meal in the "mensa" (university cantine) costs 2,20€ which is quite cheap for a meal in German standarts. In a pizzeria you pay like 5-6€ for a pizza plus 2 euro drinks easily, and it can be far more. Supermarket prizes are quite reasonable. Say: Bar of chocolate: 1€ A pack Tomatoes: 1,60€ A pack noodles: 0,50€ A pack of sausages: ~2€ A Pack Chips: 0,60€-1,80€ A Bottle Beer: from ~0,35€(waaah) to ~1,20€ A Bottle of wine: 1,60€-3,50€(normal wine) Say in a bookstore: A "normal" novel: around10-12€ For clothes: In the H&M for a tshirt say 15€ and a jeans you can get for about 25-30€ Well, hope I could give you a general overview - if you have anymore questions just put them online and we'll try to help. Anyway, wish you a great time in Cologne! All the best from Kathmandu, Gerry

Hi Marjolly, I will try to answer with my very limited knowledge about Cologne..:) The climate won't be so bad, it is quite windy during November and in December it can goes below 0 so often. Just prepare gloves and shocks, it will greatly keep you warm..:) The price of the meal in the university is good, you don't need to worry about it and in supermarket is not that bad, as for me I can still save some money every month..:) Well, maybe that is the information in general. Just ask again if you need more detail answer..:) Cheers!

Someone can explain about climate in October, November and December (in Cologne)? I would like knowing about food too. How much costs a meal in university restaurant and in others restaurants? And food (fruits, vegetables, snacks) at supermarkets? I know thatThese informations are important for me, because I need to program my living costs in Cologne and plan what clothes/shoes I will put in baggage. Thank you Marjolly Priscilla Shinzato
